Caroline Lee
McCaffrey
August 14, 1944 – June 1, 2026
Caroline Lee McCaffrey, a devoted and cherished presence in the lives of many, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at her residence in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the age of 81. Born on August 14, 1944, Caroline's life embodied grace, dedication, and the quiet strength of a loving heart.
A proud graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Caroline’s early years laid a foundation of perseverance and compassion that would characterize her every endeavor. Her career as a Pharmacy Technician at the Biloxi VA Pharmacy was marked by meticulous care and unwavering commitment, serving those who served the nation with respect and kindness.
Beyond her professional achievements, Caroline was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother — roles she embraced with boundless warmth and devotion. For 62 remarkable years, she shared her life and love with her husband, Gregory W. McCaffrey, whose steadfast companionship was a testament to their enduring bond. Together, they nurtured a family rich in love and connection.
Caroline’s daughters — Tammy Moses (Steve), Angie Nowell (Tom), and Dawn McCaffrey — carry forward her legacy of strength and warmth. Her grandchildren, Taylor Moses (Julie), John Moses (Lindsey), Candice Konecci (Paul), and Thomas Nowell (Kelsi), are a reflection of her nurturing spirit and the values she instilled. Further, her love blossomed across three generations, embraced by ten great-grandchildren who were fortunate to know the gentle hospitality and joy she brought to any gathering.
Her passions were as vivid as the memories she leaves behind. Caroline found great pleasure in cooking, transforming meals into expressions of love and tradition. Traveling widened her horizons and deepened her appreciation for life’s wonders, while the peaceful shores of the beach served as her sanctuary, a place where she could reflect and rejuvenate.
Caroline was predeceased by her beloved parents, Ed W. and Mamie L. Varner, whose influence and love undoubtedly shaped the extraordinary woman she became.
The passing of Caroline Lee McCaffrey is a profound loss to all who knew her, yet her spirit endures in the hearts she touched so deeply. Her life was a tapestry of love, service, and joyful memories — a timeless story of grace and caring that will inspire her family and friends forever. As we bid farewell, we hold fast to the warmth of her smile and the legacy of a life well lived.
The family will hold a memorial service to celebrate her legacy at a later date.
Riemann Family Funeral Home in Gulfport is honored to serve her family during this difficult time.
