Carol Ann Bergenthal Bogolin, 82, of Diamondhead, MS, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024 in her home. She was born on December 7, 1941 to the late John and Bernice Bergenthal. She is preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law, Margaret Bogolin, and her brother-in-law, Jon Kenoyer.

Carol was a native of Milwaukee, WI. She graduated from Alverno College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a minor in music. Over the years she taught high school math and music. She also worked as a music director at St Columba Catholic Church in Dothan, AL in the 1970s and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in St. Francisville, LA in the 1980s.

Carol enjoyed reading, bowling, and playing bridge. Carol’s love of reading lead to her writing several romance novels, two of which were published. Carol also worked at Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis, MS for 11 years, retiring from the position of floor manager just before hurricane Katrina.

She is survived by her devoted family, her husband of 60 years, Charles Paul Bogolin; her daughters Linda Diane Bogolin (Mike Kittrell), JoAnn Bogolin (Elizabeth Hyatt), and Christy Ann Smejkal (Ron); granddaughter, Chloe Smejkal; and beloved siblings, James Bergenthal (Jean), Mary Ellen Kenoyer, and William Bergenthal (Karen).

The family wishes to thank the Home Health services and Hospice personnel that looked after Carol over the last year. A private family service will be held at a later date.
