Carlo "CJ" James Daquana passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the age of 67. Born on July 14, 1958, in Louisiana, CJ was known to many as a dedicated, hard-working, and industrious individual whose impact will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

A true enthusiast of high-octane pursuits, CJ devoted many years of his life to working in the Top Fuel Race Car industry. His passion for the sport took him across the country as he traveled to races, forming lifelong memories and friendships along the way. Colleagues recall his unwavering commitment, steady hand, and keen expertise that made each journey and every race something truly special.

In the more recent chapters of his career, CJ became a fixture at Gulfport Coca-Cola, where he spent the last 20 years in the company of his co-workers from Coke as the lead mechanic. His strong work ethic, good humor, and camaraderie fostered a unique sense of belonging among his peers, who will sorely miss his presence and spirit on the job.

CJ’s talents and determination extended well beyond his professional life. Among his proudest accomplishments were the several awards he earned for his custom-built motorcycles. This achievement was a source of great joy for him and spoke volumes about his skill, creativity, and dedication to pursuing excellence in his personal passions.
