Carlis Ervin Young, age 78, a native of Long Beach and a resident of Biloxi, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Arthur Young and Vester May Hammons Young; and seven siblings.
Carlis is survived by his wife of 27 years, Ottis "Jean" Young; his children, Gary Young, Perry Young, Regina Woodard, Danny Madison, Donna Anderson, Delinda Hanson, Wayne Madison, Eric Madison, Sonijh Anderson and their spouses; his siblings, Alan (Betty) Young, Dell (Tommy) Swindle; 28 grandchildren; and 41 great grandchildren.
Carlis worked in construction, carpentry, as a musician and owned Young Painting Company with his brother Alan. He played music for many benefit functions for those in need, played bass guitar in his band "Rhythm Masters" and many local musicians on the Mississippi Coast for many years, and loved country music. Carlis also loved to fish until he became ill. He was of the Baptist faith.
The family would like to thank the local fire department, AMR Service and their team, and our local police department for their many efforts.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport with a visitation for family and friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach.
