A lifelong resident of the Biloxi community, Carl John "Peanut" Trochesset, Jr., age 85, passed away on February 26, 2026. His journey began in Mobile, AL, on January 18, 1941, while his mom was visiting her family, and his life journey ended at a Gulfport, MS hospital, but Carl’s heart and life always belonged to Biloxi. He spent his 85 years dedicated to his hometown, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and unwavering love for the family and community he cherished.

Professional Legacy and Service

Carl’s life of service began in the United States Navy, where he honorably served his country aboard the USS Saratoga. Upon completing his service obligation and returning home to his beloved Biloxi, he dedicated himself to the safety of others as a firefighter for the Biloxi Fire Department. Following his time with the Fire Department, Carl transitioned into a career as a self-employed General Contractor. Alongside his father, Carl Sr., he owned and operated C & C Construction. Together, they worked side-by-side building and remodeling houses and businesses throughout the Gulf Coast. Their exceptional craftsmanship remains a lasting part of the community, still evident in many homes today. Carl later returned to public service for the city, serving as an Inspector for the Urban Renewal project for the City of Biloxi. His commitment to his community was further reflected through his involvement with the Biloxi Elks Lodge #606, where he was a Life-Member and held various positions throughout the years.

Artistic Spirit and Hobbies

A man of many talents, Carl possessed a profound passion for the arts. He was a gifted painter in oils and acrylics, often focusing on landscapes and abstract themes; one of his favorite pieces was proudly displayed at The Peoples Bank in downtown Biloxi for several years. Carl’s creativity also extended to writing poems and songs; while many knew him for his other talents, he was a skilled guitar player in his younger years and always found joy in singing, dancing, and the quiet fellowship of fishing and camping. He also used his talents to help produce some of the best Elks Mardi Gras floats and Carnival Balls, bringing the spirit of the season to life.

Carl spent many years coaching Dawn's youth league softball team. Kenny and Shawn had a place in their father's carpentry workshop, where they had an abundance of tools and wood for whatever projects their imaginations could spark. Carl was also a talented cook, and his family and grandchildren will especially cherish the memory of his famous gumbo, potato salad, and eggplant casserole. In his free time, he enjoyed visiting the dog tracks or the local casino slot machines. He always talked about "hitting it big," fueled by his lifelong dream of being able to take care of everyone he loved.

Family Legacy

Carl cherished his family deeply, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Clora Trochesset. His legacy continues through his children: Kenneth Trochesset (Letitia), Dawn Spears, and Shawn Trochesset (Jeannie). He was a proud grandfather to Amber Barstow (Alex), Brandi Kopszywa (Trevor), Logan Henn, Lauren Patin (Tyler), Summer Simmons (Hunter), Nathan Spears, Grant Trochesset (Whitley), and Carl John "CJ" Trochesset. He also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren who were his greatest source of joy: Liliana, Camila, Indigo, Vaeda, Mars, Grayson, Kambree, Oaklynn, and Elleigh. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia (Jim) Walker. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl John Sr. and Thelma Trochesset; his sister, Doris Cook; and his brothers, Robert Lamey and William Lamey.

A celebration of Carl’s life will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at The Elks Lodge #606, 1178 Beach Blvd., Biloxi, MS.

Celebration of Life: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Memorial Service: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM.
