Capt. Merlin C. Herold, U.S. Navy, Ret., age 92, of Gulfport, passed away on July 28, 2012, in Pass Christian.
He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War and later retired from the U.S. Naval Reserves as a Captain.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth ""Betty"" Herold.
Survivors include his children, Merlyn J. Herold, Henderson, NV, David A. Herold, San Diego, CA, and Thomas L. Herold, Aurora, CO, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at St. Patrick Episcopal Church, 310 N. Cleveland Ave., Long Beach, MS 39560.
Memorials may be sent to St. Patrick Episcopal Church in memory of Mr. Herold.
