Bruce Elliot

Bruce Robert Elliot, 80, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away peacefully in his home on October 3, 2018.
Mr. Elliot was born to parents Lyle Elliot & Alice Jones Elliot in Port Chester, NY, and was a long-time resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Mr. Elliot was a dear father and recent widower, married to Cathryn Hughes for 38 years.
Mr. Elliot aka "Wild Bill" was a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran having served in the U.S. Navy, rank A02, on the USS Intrepid (CVA-11) and on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA-42) for the period of 1955-1963. Mr. Elliot served in the MSARNG from 1974-1986 retiring as Staff Sergeant.  Mr. Elliot also retired from Ingalls Shipyard as a Pipefitter in 1999.
Mr. Elliot will be remembered as a driven individual, always firm but fair in nature. In his retirement, he and his late wife, Cathryn, enjoyed fun among friends at Biloxi casinos and quiet times together at their Ocean Springs home. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Elliot is survived by his daughters, Brenda Wyatt (Kevin) of North Pole, AK, Barbara Marsden (Douglas Packard) of Kensington, NH, Kelly Burdick (Michael) of Holmes, NY, and Tammy Duffy (Tim) of Rome, NY; his 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; his sisters, Christine Chickneas (Art) of Bethel, CT, and Cathy Cade of Kent, CT; niece Tracy Finerman (Dan); nephews, Thomas Brunow (Sandy) and Steven Brunow (Ellen); brothers-in-Law, Thomas Brunow and Thomas Hughes (Elly); and other loving family members.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Cathryn; his parents, Lyle and Alice Elliot; sisters, Lillian Brunow, Evelyn Peschko, and 2 grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 11 am - 12 noon at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd. A memorial service will take place at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel. Interment with military honors will be in Biloxi National Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Chaplain John Landrum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
