Brenda Gayle Graybeal

Brenda Gayle Graybeal entered into the arms of her Savior on June 2, 2026, just days before her 83rd birthday. Her life was a beautiful testament to perseverance, devotion to family, faith and unconditional love.

Born on June 13, 1943, in Cisco, Texas, Brenda spent her early years in Eastland, Texas, where she attended elementary school. She later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, graduating from high school in 1961. In 1964, she married Max Graybeal, and together they welcomed two beloved daughters who remained the pride and joy of her life.

In 1982, Brenda met the love of her life, Fred Morehead. Their remarkable 42-year journey together was filled with companionship, laughter and unwavering support. Though Fred preceded her in death, their love story remains one of the greatest blessings of her life.

Brenda dedicated much of her professional career to serving the Mississippi Gulf Coast community. Beginning in Diamondhead in 1973, she worked in various roles and eventually rose to management at the Diamondhead Country Club, where she served until 1997. She later joined the Bay-Waveland Yacht Club in 1999, helping guide its operations until Hurricane Katrina devastated the facility in 2005. Ever resilient, Brenda remained involved in the club’s rebuilding efforts and continued serving until her retirement in 2008.

While her professional accomplishments were many, Brenda’s greatest legacy was the love she poured into her family and friends. She had a gift for making people feel cherished. Through countless handmade crafts, thoughtful gifts, and treasured mini photo albums filled with photographs, journal entries, special dates, and memories, she preserved the stories of those she loved. These keepsakes will continue to remind generations of how deeply they mattered to her.

Brenda’s capacity for love seemed limitless. No matter what challenges life placed before her, she faced them with grace, determination, and the unmistakable Texas grit that defined her character. She rarely complained, choosing instead to meet adversity with strength, faith, and quiet courage. Her faith sustained her through the years as she battled illness and became her reality when she entered Heaven and was reunited with her Lord and Savior.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Vance Mueller; her father, Merton Mueller; and her beloved companion, Fred Morehead.

Brenda leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory, her daughters, Gail Pav (Matthew) of Long Beach, Mississippi and Stacy Graybeal Hathcox (Francisco “Guido” Colon) of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; her stepdaughter, Judith Morehead Smith (Kevin) of Long Beach, Mississippi; Her grandchildren, Tyler Pav (Stephanie) of Long Beach, Mississippi, Dylan Legere of Williamsburg, Virginia, Madison Legere of Covington, Louisiana, Abby Legere of Poplarville, Mississippi, Gage Hathcox of Pearlington, Mississippi, and Riley Hathcox of Pearlington, Mississippi; her step-grandchildren, Haley Rishel, Katie Hennig, and Cole Smith, her great-grandchildren, Stella Pav of Long Beach, Mississippi, Banks Pav of Long Beach, Mississippi, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness and love.

Though our hearts are broken by her absence, we rejoice in knowing that Brenda’s faith has become sight. Her legacy lives on in the memories she preserved, the lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the love she so freely gave.

Brenda will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in our hearts.
