Brandon "Neil" Fleming

Brandon Neil Fleming was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina, on August 19, 1975, to Rickie Fleming of Nashville, North Carolina, and Cheryl Gywn of Mount Airy, North Carolina.

Neil, as he preferred to be called, graduated from North Surry High School in 1993 and shortly thereafter on July 22, 1993, he enlisted into the United States Navy. He rose through the ranks to a CECS (SCW/EXW) Ret. By the time of his retirement on June 20, 2020, serving a total of twenty-six years, eleven months, and nine days. While in the Navy, Neil served tours of duty all around the world and including active combat zones as a Seabee Electrician and was awarded numerous commendations, medals, and ribbons. During his career, Neil was a great friend and mentor to many.

It was while serving in Okinawa, Japan that he met his cherished wife, Jodi Marie Fitzgerald Fleming and she survives him in Long Beach, Mississippi. It should be noted that while serving Neil and Jodi had two beautiful children, Kylie Marie Fleming and Mackenzie Rae Fleming and they survive him in Long Beach, Mississippi as well. While serving, Neil completed his Bachelor’s of Science in Organizational Leadership at the University of Charleston. Neil was an exceptional husband and father, and supported his wife and daughters in all their endeavors. He also was proud of his daughters’ accomplishments and their future life plans. He is survived by his father, Rickie Fleming (Sandra), mother Cheryl Gywn, father-in-law, Thomas Fitzgerald, sister, Wendy Payne (Scottie), nephew, Jax Payne.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 27, 2023, from 4 – 6 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS 39560.  A Celebration of his life will begin at 6 pm.  The interment will be at a later date in Biloxi National Cemetery.
