Booth Robbin Nations, age 84, of Long Beach, joined his Lord and Savior and his wife of 55 years on Sunday, September 22, 2024. Mr. Nations was born on October 29, 1939, in Bogue Chitto, MS to Kees Nations and Helen Laura Nations. He attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College; then went on to earn his BS degree at the University of Southern Mississippi. He married Marilyn Virginia Williams in 1962 after graduating college. He then began his 30 year career as an Industrial Arts teacher at Long Beach Middle School. Soon after he pursued his Masters in Education at the University of Southern Mississippi. He worked several summers as an architect. He had beautiful penmanship and was a master at woodwork. He was also a proud mason.
Booth enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce with friends and family. He was well known for his delicious peach trees. He loved bass fishing on his boat with friends and family. He was well seasoned in the fishing holes of the Pearl River. He enjoyed traveling with his late wife of 55 years, Marilyn Nations. Everyone who knew him knew of his deep love and admiration for his late wife, Marilyn. Booth and Marilyn were loyal Christians and active members of the First Baptist Church in Long Beach since 1962 when they moved to Long Beach, MS. Booth was a deacon at the church for many years, while Marilyn taught Sunday School. They enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad. They went on many bus tours, cruises and overseas trips, most of them planned by Marilyn. Among their favorite trips was one to Ireland with Father Louie. Booth always said that Paul would be making him a tent in heaven and Marilyn would be giving tours. Booth was a well loved and respected teacher, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His former students speak of their admiration for the knowledge he shared that made lasting impressions. His greatest love was for his wife, Marilyn, his three children, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and one great grandchild on the way. He enjoyed attending the sporting events, programs, dance recitals, birthday parties, weddings, graduations, etc of all of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters, and his wife of 55 years.
He is survived by his children, Gregory Wade Nations (Lori Deen) of Long Beach, Timothy Todd Nations (Cindy Bowden) of Wiggins, Robbin Michelle Vonder Bruegge of Long Beach; sibling,Terri Lane Nations (Vewanna) of Bogue Chitto; grandchildren, Chip Vonder Bruegge (Rani Vogt), Tristan Nations (Andy Cooper) Blake Nations (Taylor), Morgan Vonder Bruegge Rushing (Ned), Tanner Nations, Sarah Nations Allen (Hunter), Brock Vonder Bruegge; great grandchildren, Rhett Vonder Bruegge, Haze Rushing, Reeves Vonder Bruegge, Indy Nations and Harper Kay Allen; step great grandchildren, Percy Allen and Ensleye Allen.
The family would like to thank Southern Living Assistance for going above and beyond and providing superb care for Booth. As well as, St Joseph Hospice for their care and assistance in his final days. The family would specifically like to thank Robin Buch for overseeing his care, her support and for being his advocate. Also, Kayley Holloway for being a compassionate and dedicated companion, caregiver, and advocate for Mr. Booth Nations. Additionally, the family would like to thank Mindy, Jamira, Gigi, Angel, Morgan and Lynda with Southern Living Assistance; as well as Ruth Ladner with St Joseph Hospice, for their dedication to caring for Booth Nations with such compassion.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Long Beach, from 10:00 AM -12:30 PM. A memorial service in remembrance of Mr. Booth Nations will begin at 12:30 PM. A private burial with family will follow at a later date. The family prefers donations to Southern Living Assistance in Long Beach (Robin Buch) or Northwood Church of Long Beach.
