Bobbie Jean Bowman, age 92, from the Dedeaux Community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7th, surrounded by the legacy she built—a family rooted in love, laughter, and grace.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Bowman; 2 children, Cindy Bludworth and Kristy Wise; and 4 siblings, Laverne Brogdon, Helen Ladner, Hilda Bennett, and Otis Bud Brogdon.
Mrs. Bowman is survived by her children, Sam (Marie) Ladner, Evelyn (Gary) Ladner, Granval (Jerine) Ladner, Kayleen (late spouse Dwight) Braxton, Gary (Susan) Bowman, Larry (Debbie) Bowman, Debbie (Mike) Gibbs, and Bruce (Kristi) Bowman; a sister, Nell Koenenn; 34 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 11great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A true matriarch, Bobbie raised ten children in total—From them, her family tree blossomed into 34 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She carried every one of them in her heart and gave her love generously, never once letting anyone leave her presence hungry—either in body or spirit.
Bobbie was a woman of deep faith. She loved God and lived his teachings through kindness, service and generosity. Her kitchen was her ministry. She could feed an army without blinking—and make the absolute best biscuits and gravy you’ve ever tasted. The kind of biscuits that made you stop mid-bite just to savor how good life could be.
She had a laugh that could brighten a room and a sense of humor that kept us all smiling. Whether you knew her for a moment or a lifetime, she made you feel welcomed, known, and loved.
Bobbie’s life was one of quiet strength, open hands, and joy in the simple things—family meals, warm hugs, a well-timed joke and the sound of kids running through her home. She leaves behind a family who adored her and a legacy that will continue to ripple through generations.
We’ll miss her stories, her prayers, her laughter and most of all, the way she made everyone feel like they belonged.
The family would like to thank Darlene Storey, Amy, Romona Fine and Gentiva Hospice for taking good care of our mama.
