Billy Autry Schonewitz

Billy Autry Schonewitz, age 74, of Saucier, MS, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at home with his family by his side.
Mr. Schonewitz was born in Saucier to Ollie and Iris Varnado Schonewitz. He loved cars. He recently restored an El Camino and was an avid racer at the dirt track. He built his own engines and cars and lived for the track. His career was spent on the water. He started at an early age on shrimp boats and later went to work on offshore rigs from which he retired 20 years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Douglas and Roy Schonewitz.
He is survived by his wife, Linda McNeil Schonewitz of Saucier; Billy Joe Schonewitz (Suzy), Michael T. Schonewitz, and Lisa D. Schonewitz (Louis Massarini); siblings, Joe Schonewitz, Ollie Schonewitz, Jr. (Marie), Larry Schonewitz (Mabel); sister-in-law, Linda Schonewitz; seven grandchildren, Michael Schonewitz, Amanda Schonewitz, Nicholas Ladner, Christopher Ladner, Wesley Taylor, Brittany Price, Destiny Cuevas; four great grandchildren, Carter, Lane, Christopher, Jr., and Jaylynn; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 24253 Church Ave., Saucier from 12 o'clock Noon until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the church sanctuary at 2:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at Saucier Cemetery.
