Billy Laroy Holmes, age 87, of Diamondhead, MS, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 in Gulfport, MS.
Mr. Holmes was born January 7, 1934 in Graham, TX. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1951. He attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX (ROTC) then transferred to North Texas University in Denton, TX and earned his bachelor’s degree in business. He was inducted into the U. S. Army in 1956 and then honorably discharged in 1958. At a young age he worked as an Oilfield Roustabout and worked for various oil corporations. In 1992 he started and was the owner of BRH Distributors in Houston, TX. He retired in 1997 and made his home in Diamondhead, MS. He loved fishing but his passion was golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E. C. Holmes and Georgia Ann Higgins Holmes.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Tevis Ruth Ducote Holmes; his two sons, Randall Laroy Holmes (Claudine Robart Holmes) and William Brian Holmes (Susanne Holmes); and his siblings, Nathelee Richardson, Bernice Armstrong and Edward Holmes.
Friends are invited to join the Holmes family for visitation on Thursday, June 3rd from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln Delisle Road, Pass Christian, MS.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, June 4th at 10:30 a.m. at Diamondhead United Methodist Church, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Mr. Holmes will be laid to rest with military honors at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS.
