Billy Wayne Crosby, age 66, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013, in Long Beach, MS. Billy Wayne was born in Steep Hollow, MS, and lived in Long Beach most of his life.
Billy Wayne was an avid sports fan and coached major, minor and Dixie league boys' baseball for many years and enjoyed umpiring games. He was instrumental in bringing Babe Ruth Baseball to Long Beach. He had a great sense of humor and was an LSU ""super fan"".
Billy Wayne served as an alderman in Long Beach from 1973 to 1977. He was a profound supporter of the Long Beach Police and Fire Departments.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C.E. ""Tiny"" Crosby and Hilda Ladner Cook.
Mr. Crosby is survived by his stepmother, Nellie ""NaNa"" Crosby; his two sons, Vic (Keri) Crosby of Katy, TX and Matt (Shea) Crosby of Hattiesburg, MS; his six grandchildren whom he loved very much, Alyssa, Jessica, Brennan, Bryce, Cody and Cade Crosby; his brother, W. Ray Crosby, Sr.; his sisters, Sandra (Billy) Norris of Purcellville, VA, Connie (Avery) Broadhead of D'Iberville, MS, and Jessica Crosby of Gulfport; his nephews, W. Ray Crosby, Jr. of Long Beach and Doug Crosby of Kosciusko, MS; his lifelong friend, Melvin ""Doobie"" Dubuisson and his Prayer Partner, Stephanie P. Rosetti.
The family requests memorial donations to one's favorite charity.
Pallbearers are long-time friends, Sonny Watts, Ronnie Barker, Louis Elias, Mike Brown, Bill Rivenbark and Melvin Dubuisson.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd, Long Beach with a visitation for family and friends from 11:00 AM until the service.
