Betty Jean Miller Bridge Owens, 94, of Gulfport passed away peacefully at her home on November 16, 2024. She was born in Gulfport to the late Floyd “Pud” Miller Sr. and Melvin Josephine Welford Miller on January 15, 1930. Betty grew up attending Grace Memorial Baptist Church and graduated from Gulfport High School in 1949.

Betty was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was the Queen of the Auxiliary Mardi Gras Ball in 1999. She was retired from F.E.B. Distributing Company and enjoyed reading, jig saw puzzles, crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two beloved husbands, C.M. Bridge Jr. and John T. Owens, Jr.; her daughter, Vicki Harrold; her granddaughter, Tracy Henion; her brother, Floyd Miller Jr.; and her sister, J. Elaine Necaise.

Betty is survived by her loving nephews, Ricky Necaise of Gulfport, and Mike (Laurie) Necaise of McComb; nieces, Vicki Miller of Slidell and Cynthia Miller of Picayune; cousins; and her very special friend and caregiver, Hilda “Dee” Gayten of Gulfport, who has taken such great care of Betty for the last three and a half years.

As per Betty’s request, there will be a private graveside service on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Evergreen Cemetery attended by her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s honor may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
