Betty Joy McMaster, 74, of Biloxi, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 in Crestview, Florida.
Mrs. McMaster was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur D. McMaster, Jr.; her parents, Wesley and Bertha Anderson; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Cynthia J. Barbati (Michael), Virginia Faye Hall (Shane) and Carol L. Swallow (Rob); 2 sons, Henry L. McMaster (Tammy) and Arthur D. McMaster, III; 2 sisters, Mary Stevens and Bonnie Brooks of Yazoo City; her sister of heart, Renee' Barbati of Biloxi; 9 grandchildren, Tara, Ashley, Sean, Gregory, Patrick, Amanda, Morgan, Cameron and Aiden; and 5 great-grandchildren, Mia, Gabriel, Liam, Kaylyn and Connor.
Mrs. McMaster was a native of Yazoo City and was a resident of the MS Gulf Coast for more than 50 years. She graduated from Yazoo City High School in 1961. Betty was a proud military spouse. She worked for several years as a manager of Danny's Fried Chicken on Dedeaux Road in Gulfport. In her later years, she devoted her time and attention to her family and grandchildren; she was the proud mother of 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. McMaster enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was known throughout the south for her macaroni & cheese and her cakes.
As an Air Force wife, she was a member of the VFW Posts 2539 and 4526, the Arthur D. McMaster Memorial Post, which is a memorial to her late husband. She will forever be the sunshine in the hearts of her children and grandchildren. Her family would like to thank everyone for their kind words, loving thoughts and gestures.
