Betty K. McGuire

Betty Koenenn McGuire, age 80, of Gulfport, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Powell Koenenn and Hattie Koenenn, a brother, Walter ""Preacher"" Koenenn, 1 sister, Vivian Bergeron, and an infant son.
Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Dalton D. McGuire, Sr., a son, Dalton D. (Sarah) McGuire, Jr., 3 daughters, Stephanie Covington, Susan (Dale) Ladner, and Sabrina Harris, a sister, Gladys Hill, 9 grandchildren, Sara (Jack) Williams, Adam (Lindsey) Harris, Steven (Ann Barrett) Ladner, Shellie (Jeremy) Ely, Trace McGuire, Tyler Harris, Jeffrey (Bess) McGuire, Rhett Harris, and Jake Cotten, 8 great-grandchildren; niece and loving caregiver, Kathy Pitre; and many relatives and friends.
Mrs. McGuire was born in the Pineville Community, Pass Christian, and was a longtime resident of Gulfport. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and was an active member of the Krewe of Gemini serving as Ball Captain, Queen, and the scholarship committee. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.
Even later in years, she enjoyed the tradition of cooking a large Sunday meal for her entire family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm Friday, October 23, 2015, at St. James Catholic Church, 366 Cowan Road, Gulfport. Visitation will be from 12 - 1 pm in the church. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
