Betty Carpenter

Betty R. Carpenter, age 89, of Buras, LA, passed away on August 25, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Carpenter; a son, John Carpenter; her parents, George and Pearl Ragas; her siblings, Audrey Alesich, Mary Whitely, Lillian Ordoyne, Leon Ragas, and George Ragas, Jr.
Survivors include her children, Susan Stratton (Harold), Patti Brooks, Michael Carpenter (Wanda), Jessica Jukes, Timothy Carpenter (Nancy), and William Carpenter (Lori); her siblings, Gerald Ragas and Karen Greene; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was a devout catholic and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Franklinton, LA and served as a church organist. She was a recipient of the St. Louis Medal for her dedication and service to the church. Mrs. Carpenter was a seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her children.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 pm on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 East Beach Blvd, Long Beach. Visitation will be from 1 - 2 pm in the church.
