Benjamin Jefferson Robbins, age 88, of Gulfport, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015.
Mr. Robbins was born in Alabama to Henry Robbins and Maggie Brookings Robbins. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He retired from the sales profession, having worked for Phillip's Hardware and others. He loved water activities like water skiing and fishing and enjoyed camping, being outdoors, and collecting coins. He was a gardener at heart, spending many hours tending his flowers and teaching and sharing with others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna Rebecca Davis Robbins; siblings, Odell Robbins, Hubert Robbins, Ostell Robbins, and Cary Robbins.
He is survived by his son, Robert David Robbins of Columbus, GA; siblings, Juanita Woodham of FL, and James Robbins of CA; 1 grandchild and 4 great grandchildren; with special thanks to his loving family of in-laws for always caring and taking care of Mr. Robbins; and his friends, Scott Rogers, Bob Ethridge, and Kathy Lantz.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Wall and Dr. Hightower for their compassionate care.
Graveside services will be held in Georgia where Mr. Robbins will be interred with his wife at Park Hill Cemetery, Columbus, GA, on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the graveside from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Stiffler Hamby Funeral Home.
RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Gulfport, is serving the family locally. Stiffler-Hamby Funeral Home, Columbus, GA, will be directing services in Georgia.
