Bernard Anthony Ladner, Sr.

August 18, 1957 — January 27, 2025

Kiln

Bernard Anthony Ladner Sr. was born on August 18, 1957, in Gulfport, MS. He was eight of eleven children to his parents, Mazie and Clifton Ladner. His elementary school and high school were Hancock North Central where he was a member of the Hancock Hawks Basketball team. After high school, he attended Pearl River Community College and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where he got the opportunity of a lifetime to study abroad. While studying abroad, he visited The Holy Land in Jerusalem, which he often spoke about. Prior to early retirement, he was employed as a Senior Production Control Planner for 13 years at Ingalls Shipbuilding. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

On January 27, 2025, Bernard "Bennie" peacefully entered eternal life to join his heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Ladner; his mother, Mazie Ladner; brothers, Clifton Ladner Jr., Roger Dale Ladner, and Donald Wayne "D.W." Ladner; and nephews, Zachary Ladner and Heath Ladner.

Leaving to cherish his memories, he is survived by his loving companion, Cheryl Knudsen; son, Bernard Ladner Jr. (Mandy). He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Elle and Elias. Also to cherish his memories are Cheryl’s children, Timothy Daigle (Jenee), Jaclyn Rawls (Bryan); Cheryl’s grandchildren, Alexis, Olivia, Emma, Noah, and Avery. To forever remember him are his brothers, Wendell (Donna) Ladner, Louie Ladner, Connie Ray (Gay), Cedric (Shawn) Ladner, Neal (Anna) Ladner; and sisters, Judy (Edwin) Ladner, Sherrell (Charles) Johnson, and Freda (Desmond) Hoda.

He was well known for his love of music and dancing, having a good time, fishing, hunting, and sharing entertaining stories. Even though he had a passion for antiques and auctions, and finding “a great deal,” it was always his family and friends who were his greatest treasures.

His kind spirit, big heart, and vibrant personality will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing or meeting him. He never met a stranger and touched the lives of many. He was a beloved member of his family and a true friend to all. He leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, love, laughter, and countless good times that will never be forgotten. It was the simple things that made him content. No matter the situation, he was always proud of his family and loved ones. He believed in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await him after passing from this world.
