Belva Mary ""Mrs. Betty"" (Koos) Simmons, age 94, of Diamondhead, MS, and formerly of Kenosha, WI, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013.
Mrs. Simmons was born June 7, 1919 in Kenosha, WI, the daughter of the late Matt and Clara (Bendix) Koos. She attended local schools in Kenosha and on June 18, 1937 she married Reginald W. Mears, who died on December 5, 1955. She later married Ranvil Simmons. She moved to Winthrop Harbor, IL in 1944 and worked at Abbott Laboratories for 31 years before retiring in 1976. She then moved back to Kenosha in 1981 where she was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and DAV Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, crafts, and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her first and second husband; her parents; her son, William Reginald Mears; a daughter, Joan Carol Mears Bales; two brothers, Robert and Leslie Koos; and granddaughter, Cheryl Maria Bales.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Ruspoli (Frank) of Diamondhead; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013, at Annunciation Catholic Church, Kiln, in the chapel from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:45 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.
