Barbara Todd Stewart, a long-time resident of Pass Christian, passed away at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport on Sunday, April 10, 2016. She was blessed with a loving family and many wonderful friends.
She is survived by her brother, Richard Todd; daughters, Elizabeth Stewart Gibson and Rebecca Stewart; son-in-law Robert Gibson; and her most wonderful grandsons, William and Thomas Gibson.
Her husband Richard Lewis Stewart preceded her in death.
Born in Norfolk County, Virginia in 1930 where her family owned Westmoreland Dairy, she graduated from Goucher College in Towson, Maryland; she went on to teach science in Virginia and Mississippi where she last taught at Coast Episcopal High School.
She particularly liked gardening and sewing, and in her later years quilting became her passion. She lived for three years in Hawaii and was fond of her memories from there.
For the past 64 years she summered on Lake Winnipesaukee at Merrymount on Melvin Bay at a cabin designed and built by her husband, Richard. She loved going there and staying through the glorious months of June through September. Within that community she also had many loving friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Memorial Hospital at Gulfport for the excellent care they gave to our mother and family over the past three months. A memorial will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church at a later date. . RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Road, Pass Christian is serving the family.
