Barbara Read Shuttleworth

d. March 21, 2024

Woolmarket

Barbara Read Shuttleworth, a life long resident of the Woolmarket Community, went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2024.

Mrs. Shuttleworth was born April 24, 1934 to Otis Holland Read and Camille Sonderberg Read.

Barbara was a member of Coalville United Methodist church, where she was instrumental in the choir, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, the prayer chain, and many other programs.

Family and Barbara’s heritage in the Woolmarket community gave her much joy. She loved the fact that Woolmarket High School, where she created so many memories with her friends and classmates, was built on land donated by her beloved Grandfather John Read in 1910. She and her classmates graduated from Woolmarket High School (also known as Woolmarket Consolidated School) in 1952. The pride for her legacy lived on as her three sons and grandsons attended this same school (known today as Woolmarket Elementary), where children continue to receive an education and make their own memories.

Barbara worked at United Gas and retired from Spraberry Dental Clinic.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Otis Holland Read and Camille Sonderberg Read; her beloved husband of 50 years, Irvin Chadwick Shuttleworth Sr; her brother, John Read, his wife Elsie and their daughter Lisa; and her sister, Carol Damalas.

Barbara leaves behind to treasure her memory, Irvin Chadwick Shuttleworth Jr., Mark Read Shuttleworth and his wife Cynthia, John Daniel Shuttleworth and his wife Dinah, as well as grandchildren, John Shuttleworth Jr. and his wife Becky, Michael and Kristofer Shuttleworth, Shannon Fortenberry, Chad Taylor and his wife Amy, Matthew Taylor and his wife Maggie, and great

-grandchildren, Luke, Noah, Ethan, Jack, Claire, and Simon. She also leaves behind her friend, Betty Smith, many cousins, nephews and their children as well as many of her friends from church and the Woolmarket community.

She will live on in the hearts of so many others to cherish the memories of her love and kindness throughout her lifetime.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Hospice for their kindness and compassion they have given them during this difficult time.
