Barbara Newman

Barbara Ann Wilt was born on September 12, 1945 in Gulfport, Mississippi where she lived the majority of her life.  Barbara spent her professional career as a logistics manager in the aerospace industry. Barbara's first love was her family, along with a passion for gardening, travel, reading, and Marilyn Monroe collectibles. She was the life of the party, witty, and her vibrant personality lit up the room when she walked in. She never met a stranger and always had a smile on her face.  Barbara's greatest joy in life was her grandchildren, and she could not wait to tell people about their accomplishments, their dreams, and their latest adventure with "Mimi".
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Sally Wilt.
She is survived by her three children, Carla Newman Hilley (Mark), Brandon Newman (Angeline) and Loren Newman (Angela); her brothers, Jack Wilt and Loren Wilt (Deedy); grandchildren, Cade Newman, Natalie Grace Hilley, Renn Mackie and Bret Jolie Newman, and Corban Verdin; along with her nieces and nephews, Tracie Wilt Major, Angela Cox Williams, Michael Wilt, Nathaniel Wilt, Ashley Newman, Courtney Newman Bush, Graham Newman, and Jay Newman.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Gulfport Memorial Hospital, especially nurse Vickie Foley, for their care and compassion.
Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Depew Road in Gulfport, Saturday, April 14, 2018. A mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life luncheon.
In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church CYO/ Youth Ministry.
