Avery Dane Buras, age 36, of Gulfport, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
Avery was a native of Buras, Louisiana. He was a student a St. James Elementary and graduated St. John High School. He studied in various fields of interest, including Japanese language, ancient history, and other foreign languages. He was a commercial fisherman following generations of Buras family members. Avery loved cooking, Korean, Indian, Thai, and Cajun cuisine. He was member of the "Fraternal Order of Outback Steakhouse" with Kyle, Geoffrey, Lance, Hal, James, and Ryan. Avery enjoyed Apollo, Asian cinema and MMORPG.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Allen L. Buras “PawPaw”; his aunts, Vanessa Buras and Theresa B. Knight; his Uncle Calvin Knight; his maternal great grandparents Otto and Beulah Lueth; and his paternal grandparents, Markleen Vernon and Ante Vrsaljko.
Avery is survived by his parents, Valerie "Naunie" Buras, and Quade Vernon; his devoted collie, Apollo; his maternal grandmother, Brenda Buras “BawBaw”; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Avery was a gentle giant, soft spoken, big guy with a tender heart and quick humor.

The Mass of Chrisitian Burial will he held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at St. James Catholic Church, 366 Cowan Road, Gulfport.
