Avery H. Allen

Avery H. Allen, Jr., age 88, of Pass Christian, passed away on June 3, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Allen, his parents, Avery H. Allen, Sr. and Lula Allen, a son, Bobby Allen, and his faithful companion ""Elwood.""
Survivors include his children, Janet (Mike) Ryan, Margaret (Sam) Ladnier, Emily (Dewayne) Dudley, Willie (Melanie) Allen, Jimmy Allen, and Carolyn (Derrick) Collier, a sister, Mary Helen Allen, a daughter-in-law, Betty Allen, 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and several other relatives and friends.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Pass Christian and was employed with Allen Electric for 40 years and later retired as the electrical inspector for the City of Pass Christian. He was a member of the VFW Post 5931 and was a longtime member of St. Paul's Church before becoming Holy Family Church. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was involved in the Pacific Theater and then was recalled to service during the Korean War. He was selected to go on the ""Honor Flight"" in 2013 with his fellow comrades.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 5, 2015, from 12 Noon - 2 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church, Pass Christian. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 PM in the church. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery.
