Athene Nicole Paquin, 52, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away on March 1, 2026, in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Athene was a native of South Africa and earned an associate degree. One of Athene’s proudest achievements is the career she made for herself in the world of coffee and cafes. She went from being a barista to starting her own consulting business, Cool Beans. She helped people open their own cafes, providing guidance on all things, from design layout, menu creation and training employees. This eventually led her to have her own cafe, Le Petit Espresso, which became a local favorite in the French Quarter.

Athene was a very loving, loyal and caring person to all her family and friends. Despite time and distance, she kept in touch with them best she could and tried to help when she could. She could be trying sometimes, but in trying times she would do what she could to help. She loved our only child deeply, doing her best to help him navigate this world and gave him all she could give. She loved her various pets throughout her life as well as the wildlife around us, feeding the squirrels and birds in our backyard.

She enjoyed antiques, jewelry, music, cooking, and camping.

Athene was preceded in death by her loving mother, Denise Claassens Fell.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Thomas Paquin; her son, Abel Paquin; her father, William Fell; her sister, Bronwen Hess (Steve); her aunt, Debbie Claassens; and her cousins, Gwenyth Jones, Michael Jones, and Andrew Jones.
