Arthur Lee Massengill, age 88, of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in Gulfport, MS.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Massengill; his son, John Massengill; his father, Levi Massengill; his mother, Anna Macel Bunch; his sisters, Mary Lou Massengill, Nellie Nadine McEachin, and Kay (Nathan) Blevins; his brother, Clifford Massengill; and his grandson, Brian Arthur Selvage.
Arthur is survived by his children, Curtis Lee Massengill (Colleen), Elizabeth Ann McMullen (Joey), and Wesley Shawn Massengill (Julie). He is also survived by his siblings, Franklin Curtis Massengill (Melissa) and Betty Jane Nance (Bill).
He leaves behind numerous grandchildren, Julianna, Brinson, Chasity, Ophelia, Dixon, Caleb, KellyAnn, Clarise, Nathaniel, Breanna, Christopher, Jessica, and Kathi.
He was blessed with many great-grandchildren, Ila, Alice, Audrey, Nola, Mason, Matthew, Michael, Sarah, Hazel, Harper, Harmony, Damien, Connor, Bella, Caroline, Antonio, Finn, Lily, and Katelynn. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Arthur was a native of Petros, Tennessee, and a resident of Gulfport, Mississippi. He earned his GED and later became the owner of A Work of Art, through which he worked on homes across the Gulf Coast. His skills included siding, windows, room additions, and home repairs.
Arthur was deeply involved in his church community. He participated in various church activities, served as a deacon, went on mission trips, and contributed his time to Habitat for Humanity projects. He was also a member of the Breaking the Barriers Ministry.
His closing scripture is Psalm 91:1–2:
“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him.”
Friends are invited to join the family for visitation and services on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Breaking the Barrier Ministries COG, 2412 29th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501. Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m., with the Service at 11:30 a.m.
