Biloxi, MS

Arngoun “Yanee” Yanee Hodges, a deeply devoted homemaker and cherished matriarch, passed away on March 23, 2025, Gulfport, Mississippi, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and compassion. Born on April 17, 1934, in Phetchaburi, Thailand, Yanee’s life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to family and community.

Her journey began in Thailand, where she passionately cared for her children and became an integral part of her local community. During a pivotal time in history, Yanee served the United States Embassy in Bangkok as an interpreter, bridging the language barrier with her exceptional Thai-English skills during the Vietnam War. It was here that she met her beloved husband, Doyle Tilmond Hodges. Their union not only blossomed into a deep and loving relationship but also paved the way for Yanee and her children's new life in America in 1969.

With the aspiration of building a better future, Yanee and her children obtained U.S. citizenship in 1975, a proud accomplishment that marked the beginning of their new chapter. Embracing their new home in California, Yanee became an active member of both the VFW and American Legion alongside Doyle, serving their community and honoring the sacrifices of veterans. Eventually, they found a peaceful retirement in Biloxi, Mississippi, where Yanee continued her commitment to service as an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Yanee’s vibrant spirit was reflected in her passions. She was an avid gardener, nurturing blossoms with the same care and dedication she gave to her family. Her talent as a florist arranger was well-known, bringing joy to many through her beautiful creations. Yanee's personality shone brightly as she shared her gifts and warmth with everyone around her.

She leaves behind her cherished children: Direk (Beverly) Hodges, Cherie (James) Tubbs, Daniel (Sherrie Harper) Hodges, Anthony Hodges, and Marlean (Teodoro) Hinojosa, along with her 9 beloved grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Each one was touched by her love, wisdom, and kindness, carrying her legacy forward.

Yanee was preceded in death by her treasured husband, Doyle Tilmond Hodges, and her beloved granddaughter, Alisa O'Dell Tubbs. Their memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will deeply miss her nurturing presence.

As we remember Arngoun “Yanee” Hodges, we celebrate a life well-lived—a remarkable woman who poured her heart into caring for her family and community. Her legacy of love will continue to bloom in the lives she touched.
