Arleen Katherine Davitt Davis

February 20, 1942 — December 13, 2015

Arleen Katherine Davitt Davis, passed away on December 13, 2015, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital.
Arleen was born on February 20, 1942, in Mineola, New York. An Air Force brat, she lived in many areas of the United States and graduated from high school in Japan. Following graduation she lived in Maine, Memphis, Miami, and Southaven, but found her home in Long Beach, where she resided for 32 years. Arleen loved the water, and spent as much time as possible boating and fishing on the Gulf. She enjoyed life to the fullest, and attended many parades and festivals as well as her grandchildren's school and sporting events. She leaves a legacy of joy, for her sassy sense of humor and active lifestyle left a trail of laughter in her wake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Rheal Davitt. She is survived by three daughters, Denise Smith Rotenberry (Kenneth), Lisa Smith Matney (Todd) and Samantha Davis (Eric Seevers) and grandchildren, Courtney Taylor and Katherine Avery Rotenberry, Lucas Wade and Logan William Dodson, and Laural Madeline Matney. Other survivors include her sisters, Diane Davitt Daniels of Peachtree City, GA, Margaret Davitt Berter of Grandview, MO, and Joanne Davitt Wells of Lake Worth, TX, her brother, David Davitt of Tallahassee, FL, her uncle, Jack Davitt (Hazel) of Jacksonville, AR, and Libby Davis Prewitt and Jeff Davis of Shalimar, FL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at 2:00pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 East Beach Blvd. in Long Beach, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at 2:00pm at Long Beach City Cemetery.
The family requests memorials be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School, 432 Espy Avenue, Long Beach, MS 39560.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach, served the family.
