Obituary

On February 2, 2026, Anneitta Elizabeth Banks, age 97, peacefully completed her earthly journey and was reunited forever with her precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Having never retired from the work she loved, Sister Banks faithfully served as pastor of Fountain of Life Tabernacle Church in Lyman, Mississippi, a ministry she and her beloved husband, the late Reverend James E. Banks, established during the 1960s. Her life was a testament to unwavering faith, dedication, and service to God and His people.

Born in Gulfport, Mississippi, to John and Meccolena Holliman, Anneitta was the youngest and last surviving of twelve siblings. Though she had no children of her own, she was a devoted spiritual mother to countless individuals whose lives were shaped by her guidance, prayers, and love.

She leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces and nephews, a devoted congregation who loved her dearly, and her Associate Pastor, Russell Hurlbert, who selflessly cared for her and faithfully attended to the needs of the church during her later years.

Before entering full-time ministry, Sister Banks served as a nurse in Mississippi and Texas, extending her compassion through healing hands. She was also an accomplished musician, singer, and songwriter. Her cherished 12-string Martin guitar was her signature instrument, often used to lift hearts and spirits in worship.

Sister Anneitta Elizabeth Banks will be remembered for her steadfast faith, servant’s heart, and lifelong commitment to the call God placed upon her life.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Fountain of Life Tabernacle, 15350 Highway 49 North, Gulfport, MS, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour before.
