Anna Woodcock
Cregar
Feb 16, 1936 — Aug 17, 2026
Anna Woodcock Cregar passed away at the age of 90 on August 17, 2026.
She was born Anna Dell Latimer on February 16, 1936, in Gulfport, Mississippi, to the late Lorena Inez Stanton Latimer and John Percy Latimer.
Anna met Kenneth Woodcock in 1952 when his mother sent him to invite her to his homecoming from Korea. She was unable to attend due to a Wednesday night church service, but he left the party early to meet her in the church parking lot and offer her a ride home. From that day on, they saw each other daily and were married on March 5, 1954, in Gulfport.
She graduated from Gulfport High School in 1954. During Kenneth’s service in the Air Force, the couple lived in Alaska and Wyoming before returning to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in the early 1960s to raise their two daughters.
Anna worked for the South Mississippi Housing Authority and dedicated many years to secretarial work with Knight Abbey Commercial Printing, Gulf Gardens Baptist Church, and Cowan Road Baptist Church.
A devout Christian, she was a longtime member of Cowan Road Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member.
Kenneth passed away in 1987. Anna later married Clyde Cregar in 2002, who passed away in 2005.
She loved listening to Jerry Lee Lewis, watching the Saints, and jokingly keeping her grandchildren in line with “the switch.” She made the best divinity candy and was known for her unique, infectious cackle. Above all, she cherished time spent with her “babies.”
She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, her brother, John Latimer, and her sister, Sharon Brock.
She is survived by her children, Lynn Ellerman of Gulfport and Wendy Moore (David) of Lake Charles, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Kendon Ellerman (Laura) of Hattiesburg, Emile Nassar (Nicole) of Diamondhead, Brian Ellerman (Anna) of Long Beach, Jennifer Nassar of Flower Mound, Texas, and Kenneth Nassar of Long Beach; and her great-grandchildren, Harper, Emilia, Ethan, Eliza, and Landon.
A memorial celebration will be held at her home on Saturday, August 29 at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The family would also like to thank her hospice nurse, Lisa Marie, and her home health nurses, Nikki and Megan, for providing compassionate, loving care.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, is serving the family.
