Ann Watts, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans where she had been under treatment for a brain aneurysm since Friday, October 19th.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Nell Regan and Harold Scutt. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Vernon L. Watts, Pass Christian; son, Vernon W. ""Sonny"" Watts (and Terry Mauer), Long Beach; daughter, LeeAnn and her husband Donnie Causey, Cumming, GA; granddaughter, Amber Watts, Pass Christian; grandsons, Blake and Nick Cozart, Cumming, GA; brothers, Harold Regan, Las Vegas, NV, George Regan, Portland, OR, and Patrick Regan, Sparks, NV; Aunt Ruth Jones and cousins from Johnson City, TN.
Ann was born in Johnson City, TN on November 7, 1932. Her family moved to Long Beach, MS in 1939. She attended grammar school in Long Beach and moved into Gulfport where she graduated from Gulfport High in 1951. She then entered Nurses Training at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Prior to completion of Nurses Training she became employed at a Doctor's Clinic in New Orleans. In December of 1954 she married and moved back to Gulfport. She was employed by Hancock Bank in the Trust Department through 1961 until the arrival of their first chosen child, Sonny, at which time she became a full time homemaker. In 1964, daughter LeeAnn arrived. In 1979 Ann took on the duties of secretary and office manager for the family business, Watts Oil Company. The family resided in Long Beach from 1964 until 1994 at which time she and her husband sold their business and retired to Pass Christian.
At Pass Christian they were active in Pass Christian Isles Golf Club. Ann enjoyed golf with the Sunshine Girls and was selected as MamaMia of the annual Italian Open golf tournament in 1989. In 2006, Ann and Vernon were awarded honorary lifetime membership in PCI Golf Club. She was a member of The Club 51 GHS Grads and participated in their monthly luncheon gatherings.
Ann is a member of the First Baptist Church in Gulfport and was active in the Children's Nursery Department during the 60's.
Ann gave in death as she gave in life; she was an organ donor.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach, where friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
