Obituary

Ann “Annie” Sizemore, age 65, of Long Beach, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at her residence.

Annie was born on November 15, 1960, in Gulfport, Mississippi. She was the beloved daughter of the late Mert and Charlie Sizemore, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents.

She is survived by her devoted and loving partner, Katrina Brown, with whom she shared many meaningful years. Annie also leaves behind her cherished sister, Cindy Sizemore Hendon; her nephew, Michael Hendon & his wife Jill and their children, Noah and Elyse; her niece, Laura Dykes & her husband Matt and their children, Addison, Matthew and John Douglas; her kitty Susie; as well as a host of dear friends who will deeply miss her.

Annie dedicated much of her life to education. She graduated from St. John High School, class of 1978, then from Univ. of Southern Mississippi with a B.S. in education, and the Univ. of South Alabama with a master’s in special education. She served at various schools throughout Mississippi and Alabama, including Ocean Springs Elementary, Robert E. Lee Elementary in Satsuma, AL, Long Beach Middle School, and Anniston Elementary in Gulfport. She also worked at Marine Life in Gulfport. Annie was especially proud of being named “Teacher of the Year” at Robert E. Lee Elementary School, a testament to her passion and commitment to her students.

She had a vibrant spirit and found joy in many hobbies, including gardening, reading, camping, hiking, and traveling. Annie loved watching NASCAR races, college basketball, college football, and especially cheering for the New Orleans Saints. She was also a member of St. John Parish, serving as a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound.

Above all, Annie will be remembered for her gentle nature, her steady presence, her unwavering love for her family, and the strength she showed in all aspects of her life, especially with all the children she taught over the years. She was a devoted friend, a loving partner, and a guiding light to those who knew her. May your laughter, love, kindness and strength live on forever.
