Andrés Calandria, age 82, passed away on November 18, 2025, in a house fire.
Andy was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He spent weekends in Kiln, Mississippi, where he and his wife, Toni, eventually moved just before Hurricane Katrina. Andy had an interest in radio that began in his early childhood. At the age of 14, he passed the tests to become a HAM radio operator. K5MVP HAM radio opened up many opportunities for him: friendships, job opportunities, and eventually his career in Broadcasting.
Andy served in the United States Air Force. After basic training, he was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, where he met his bride-to-be, Toni Carmichael. After serving in the Air Force, the couple settled in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he worked at WTIX News and then later at WYES TV as an audio engineer and talent. After retirement, Andy and Toni moved to Kiln, Mississippi. Andy and Toni are members of Christ Episcopal Church, Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
