Allen Neil Koehler, 71, resident of McHenry, MS, died January 21, 2014, at Memorial Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed by his family and those who knew him.
Allen was born July 16, 1942, in Penn Yan, New York, to Warren and Gladys Koehler and spent most of his school years in Hammondsport, NY.
He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force and was a Viet Nam veteran. He retired from the military after 20 years of service. He and his wife moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1994 and have remained here since. He was an avid sports fan and through the years participated in softball, bowling, and golf.
He is survived by his wife, Mina (Reynolds) Koehler of 52 years, and his sons, Jeffrey and David; 4 grandchildren; his sister, Marsha Koehler (Betts); and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother.
At his request, no service will be held.
The family would like to thank the staff at Memorial Hospital (3B), and the Doctors involved, particularly Dr. Wall, for their compassionate care of Allen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Allen's name to the American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507.
