Alice Ladnier

Alice Jeanette (Diamond) Ladnier died Saturday, June 22, 2024 in Gulfport MS. She was born in Saucier on December 23, 1937 to Louis and Florence Diamond. She was raised in Saucier and attended school in Saucier. 

In 1954, she married Richard P. Ladnier, Command Sergeant Major, US Army (deceased in 2006) and supported him in his postings around the world from California to North Carolina, from Alaska to Indiana, and from Germany to Greece. She also became an accomplished sailor including crossing the Atlantic and Mediterranean in a 37 foot ketch. During her travels she also pursued bridge and played around the world to become a Lifetime Bridge Master.

She is survived by her children, Ronald R. Ladnier (Pamela), Major General, US Air Force (Retired), of Denver CO, Karen J. Johnston (Robert Petersen) of Gulfport MS.

She is also survived by her sisters, Louise (Pete) Aufdemorte of Ocean Springs, and Ruth Moore of Wiggins; brother Joe (Emily) Diamond of Saucier; and sister-in-law Elaine Cuave of Saucier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Ladnier (2006), daughter Jinnie L. Ladnier (2019), and brother Frederick L. Diamond (2021).

She has 5 grandchildren: Michael A. Shampine of Fairborn OH, Lisa J. Doolittle of Cartersville, Christopher L. Johnston of Acworth GA, Marie A. Chitty of Denver CO, and David R. Ladnier of Maryville, IL.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 27 from 8:00 - 9:00 AM at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Gulfport. A prayer service will follow at 9 am and internment at 11 am at Biloxi National Cemetery.
