Alice Faye Ladner, a cherished lifelong resident of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Driftwood Nursing Center in Gulfport. Born on July 31, 1939, Alice's journey through life was marked by her unwavering spirit and dedication to her family and community.
Alice graduated from Gulfport High School in 1957, after which she pursued further education at the University of Mississippi for a year, and subsequently studied at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Her commitment to lifelong learning was reflected not only in her educational pursuits but also in her love for reading and collecting books, a passion that enriched her life and those around her.
Professionally, Alice devoted many years of her life to serving as a Clerk at the Biloxi VA Medical Center, embodying a deep sense of duty and compassion for those she helped. Her career was a testament to her nurturing nature and her desire to make a positive impact within her community.
A member of the Church of the Nazarene, Alice’s faith was a guiding light in her life. She was known for her vibrant personality, her love of travel, and her ability to connect with those around her. These qualities made her not only a beloved member of her family but also a cherished friend to many.
Alice is survived by her brother, Claude J. "Buck" Ladner of Oxford, MS; her nephew, Matt Ladner of Phoenix, Arizona; and her nieces, Hallie Anderson of Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, and Dana Crawley of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton Julius Ladner and Edna Jane Ladner. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and will forever hold a special place in their hearts. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of connections, experiences, and friendships that will remain cherished memories for years to come.
