Al Satchfield, 74, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from dementia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Esco, his mother and step-dad, Ada & D.P. Randall and his brother, Larry.
Surviving are his loving wife, Jan; 3 children: 2 sons, Steve and Brian (Julie) and his daughter, Cyndi. He has 4 grandchildren, 1 boy Marcus and three girls Kendra, Brandy and Kerry; 2 great-grandchildren, Christian and Olivia; his brother Danny; and other loving family and friends.
Al was a long time resident of Long Beach, attending Long Beach High before moving his senior year and graduating from Princess Ann in Virginia Beach. At both schools he we recognized as a star football athlete.
He was a veteran of the US Navy Seabees serving from 1956 to 1959. He continued his career in construction and was a general contractor until his semi-retirement in 2000. His love of the Gulf and fishing led him to be a charter boat captain for 3-4 night fishing charters to Chandeluer Island until 2010.
He was a kind, loving, gentle husband and father with a love for the outdoors, sports, especially fishing, hunting and carpentry. He will be greatly missed by his family and loving wife of 30 years.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with the funeral service following at 11 a.m., Monday, September 16 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME in Long Beach.
Burial services with military honors will follow at the National Cemetery on the grounds of the Biloxi VA.
