Alexander George Krol Sr., age 72, passed away on August 21, 2015 in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and spent 47 years of his life in Long Beach, Mississippi.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Mendelson Krol and Alexander J. Krol and his in-laws Helen and Alexander Mowatt.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years; Rena, his daughter, Cindy (Carl [Ahab]) Teague, his son, Al Krol, Jr. (Melissa), and his beloved grandchildren Susanna Teague Wilson, Maddy Teague, Alex Krol, Adam Krol and Abby Krol. He is also survived by three sisters, Diana Schrader, Mary Haack and Charlene Jarrell.
Al joined the Marine Corps in 1964 and served in Viet Nam in 1965. He was awarded a Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V for meritorious service during his time in Viet Nam. Upon his return to the States he was stationed at Parris Island, South Carolina and later at New Orleans, Louisiana.
Al began his career as an electrical contractor when he founded Krol Electric, Inc. His strong work ethic and tireless, boundless energy have allowed the business he ran along with his son, Al Jr, to serve the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the past 44 years.
His other interests included volunteering for many years with the Long Beach fire and police reserve units. He mentored many youth through the Boy Scouts of America programs and especially enjoyed working with the Explorer Scout Law Enforcement programs in Long Beach and Harrison County.
Al had a generous spirit and shared his talents and time with many people. He was someone you could always rely on and he will be greatly missed for the way he quietly worked behind the scenes to keep life in order.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 11am at First United Methodist Church, Long Beach, Mississippi. Visitation will be at the church from 9am to 11am prior to the service.
