Aleta Fountain

Aleta Brimer Fountain, 88, of Pass Christian, Mississippi passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 in Gulfport, MS.  Aleta was born on October 4, 1929 near Bowling Green, MO, the daughter of Cecil R. Brimer and Lottie Maude (Stanley) Brimer.
When Aleta was 5 years old she moved with her family to Powell, WY where they homesteaded in the Big Horn Basin.  During World War II the family moved to Renton, Washington where Aleta graduated from high school in 1948.  She returned with her family to Hannibal, MO where she attended Hannibal-LaGrange College, graduating with her AA degree in 1950.  She then entered nurses training at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO, receiving her Registered Nursing degree in 1953.
As a student at Hannibal-LaGrange College, she met her future husband, Gordon Charles Fountain.  They were married on September 27, 1953 in Quincy, IL and to this union three children were born; Jeffrey Charles, Steven John, and Shari Ellen.  In 1978 Gordon and Aleta moved their family to Pass Christian, MS where they owned and operated Fountain Bayou Campground for many years.  She also continued her nursing career by serving for many years as an RN at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Lottie, and by a sister-in-law, Joyce Brimer.  She is survived by her beloved husband, Gordon, and their three children, Jeff Fountain, Steve (Cindy) Fountain, and Shari (Johnny) Harshbarger as well as granddaughter Shari Fountain Swain and great grandson Ian Swain.  She is also survived by her sister Sue (Jack) Magruder of Kirksville, MO and brother Dale Brimer of Springfield, IL as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
Aleta was a woman of deep faith and it was evident that it was important to her all her life.  She was a beloved Sunday School teacher for many years at New Hope Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS.  Her family rejoices in the knowledge that she is now free from the ailments of this tenuous life.
The funeral service will be at 2:00pm, Monday, December 18, 2017 at New Hope Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS.  Burial will be at 11:00am, Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Biloxi National Cemetery.
