Albert James Ladner, 85, of Long Beach, died Friday, May 2, 2014 in Gulfport.
Mr. Ladner was preceded in death by his parents, Fred S. Ladner, Sr., Ida Shaw Ladner; sisters, Ruby Sellers and Lora Ladner (Austin); and brothers, Robert Ladner, Fred Ladner, Jr. and Claude Ladner.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jean Ladner; Daughters Kim (Joby) DeMetz and Pam (Davey) Spieles; Grandchildren, Nicholas and Katie DeMetz; Siblings, Mary Ladner and Betty Ladner; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
Mr. Ladner was a native of Saucier, MS and a graduate of Mississippi State University. He served in the U.S. Army in Tokyo, during the Occupation of Japan, following WWII.
He was employed and retired with the USDA. He enjoyed golfing and tennis and was a member of First Baptist Church, Long Beach where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and on various committees.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished his church, family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions to ""His Church Rising"" at First Baptist Church, Long Beach.
Friends are invited to join the Ladner family for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May5 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday in the funeral home chapel, followed by burial with military honors at Biloxi National Cemetery. Memories may be shared at www.riemannfamily.com
