Albert G. Kais

August 6, 1929 — June 19, 2014

Albert Gilbert Kais, age 84 of Biloxi, passed away on June 19, 2014, surrounded by loving family and friends.
He was born August 6, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Christina Kais, and his two sisters, Agnes Granicki and Clare Herro. He was happily married and very dedicated to his three children.
Al was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for over 40 years. He and Fabian Husley initiated the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Fatima in the year of 1986. Al worked actively in this organization as a case worker and held either vice president or secretary positions during his plus 27 years of service. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9409 at Fatima in which he served over 40 years. He served as financial secretary for a period of 15 years. These two organizations were his loves and work after he retired in 1986.
Al served in the U. S. Air Force for 4 years (1950-1954) during the Korean War. He attended the University of Wisconsin from 1954 to 1960. He graduated with a Master's Degree in Plant Pathology. He went to work for the Forest Service in Gulfport, Mississippi, to work as a forest pathologist on pine tree disease. He retired in 1986 when he was 57 years old so he could devote his time to his volunteer work.
Al loved sports and played softball, basketball, and tennis. He finally gave up his tennis when he reached 83. He loved following his Wisconsin Badgers in both basketball and football. Then, of course, he was a great Green Bay Packer fan also. He even got to see his beloved Pack win the Super Bowl in New Orleans, thanks to a nephew. Al was also an avid reader. He would read a couple of books a week. He loved current events books, mysteries, and all kinds of fiction.
Al, Carol, and the children really loved to travel, with Al being the travel agent. He planned all their trips to Europe, Central America, Mexico, and Canada. The children were taken on all trips from the time they were 3, 4, and 6. They also traveled extensively in the United States, going from California, a dude ranch in Colorado, and even a skiing trip in Colorado.
Surviving family members include his wife, Carol, to whom he was married for 51 years, children, daughter, Jeanine Nelson; two sons, Daniel and his wife Lesley Kais and their 3 children, Kenneth, Amber, and Travis; and the other son, the Very Reverend Paul Kais. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
