Alan E. Young, age 71, of Long Beach, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Young and Vester Hammons Young and eight siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lynn Young; children, Cassondra Lawless (Greg), Jim Alan Young, and Kim Young Kaletsch; sister, Dell Swindle (Tommy); and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alan was a lifelong resident of Long Beach where he was a star athlete while attending Long Beach High School. He served in the U.S. Army, worked as a painting contractor by trade, was a former constable, and was currently an Alderman for the City of Long Beach. He was a dedicated man to his family and volunteered in many ways in the community. He will always be remembered as a good joke teller and public "comedian". Alan was an avid outdoorsman.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at First Baptist Church, Long Beach, and services will begin at 3:00pm. Burial will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
Following the burial a reception will be held at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach.
