Alan Dale Simmons, Sr.

November 14, 1945 - May 6, 2025

Alan Simmons, 79, of Gulfport, Mississippi, entered into the presence of the Lord Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at The Biloxi V.A. Medical Center, with loved ones by his side.

Alan was a native of Gulfport and educated at Harrison Central High School, where he played multiple sports. He completed his higher education at the University of Texas at El Paso. 

Alan served his country honorably from 1964 - 1987 in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and 4 other conflicts, and was highly decorated. He was Airborne, Special Forces, Green Beret and Ranger. In civilian life, Alan returned home to Gulfport and served his community, founding Mid-South Building Services, Inc., and employing 100 people for 21 years until he retired in 2016. Alan also served as the State Representative for The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. He was mission-minded, commonly saying, “Okay, Let’s Go!”

Alan is survived by his wife of 26 years, Larese “Larie” Simmons of Gulfport; son, Alan Dale Simmons, II; daughter, Tracy Harms; brother, Benjamin Brian Simmons; and a sister, Donna Bell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Simmons of Gulfport; and Naomia Lucille Powell of Biloxi.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Riemann Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, officiated by Pastor Bryan Atwood of Harvest Church in Gulfport. Graveside services will follow with full military honors at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave, Biloxi, MS.
