Sandra Speede

Mrs. Sandra Louise Hartley Speede, age 57, of Gulfport, MS passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at her home in Gulfport, MS after an eight year battle with breast cancer. Sandra was born in Fairbanks, AK on January 13, 1960 and had been a resident of Gulfport for the past 27 years. She was an employee of BancorpSouth for the last 28 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis Lee Hartley and Sarah Louise Goff Hartley; a brother, Nathan Hartley (Gail); and two infant brothers, Douglas Hartley and Willis Duane Hartley.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 32 years, Ralph Speede Jr; her daughter Samantha "Paige" Steinwinder; son-in-law Freddie Fritz Steinwinder IV; grandsons, Finley Fritz Steinwinder and Sullivan Hartley Steinwinder; sisters Debra Holcomb (Danny), Betty Bryant (David) and Teresa Smith (Jim); and brother Daniel Hartley (Dreama).
Sandra was an inspiration to others during her long battle with cancer as she always maintained unwavering strength and courage. You could often find her watching her favorite LSU Tigers during football season bantering with her Mississippi State loving son-in-law. For those around her, she was known for her love of decorating for all holidays, especially Christmas. She was often called upon by others to do one of her favorite things, gift-wrapping, for which she was known to have an exceptional talent. Those she loved, she loved fiercely, and they will always remember her saying "you better get with the program". Although their time together was short, she adored the time she had with her grandsons. Her love for them will never be forgotten.
The family wishes to extend a special "thank you" to the entire Memorial Oncology Team, especially Dr. Allison Wall, Dr. Olivia Hightower, and Dr. Stephanie Fussell for the wonderful care they provided. Also, to David Taylor, RN and Beth Seymour with Canon Hospice.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, MS with a visitation for family and friends from 10:00 AM until the service. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
Per Sandra's wishes visitors are asked to wear a touch of pink to celebrate her life.
