Sandra Bordeaux

d. January 16, 2017

Sandra "Sandy" Bordeaux, a longtime resident of Gulfport, Mississippi, entered eternal rest on Monday, January 16 at the age of 70. Her delicate heart, made stronger for many years by the love and joy of family, finally succumbed to the condition with which she was diagnosed in 2001.
Sandy was a dedicated wife and mother, fun-loving grandmother and friend to everyone she met, including all of the animals of Bluff Lane, where she lived for more than 20 years.
Her children were her world and sparked Sandy's involvement in the schools and the community. She was a petite but mighty presence, making an impact wherever she went. In the early 1980s she worked tirelessly - and successfully - to help promote a statewide public kindergarten program in Mississippi. As a substitute teacher and teacher's assistant at Bayou View Elementary, she touched the lives of many students, parents and faculty members. She coached her boys in baseball, loved watching the Braves and was a dedicated Saints' fan, from the brown bag days through their Super Bowl win.
Sandy had a true appreciation for the simple life. She was happiest at home with her husband, caring for the animals of the nearby bayou and enjoying frequent visits with her grandkids. She will be truly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Sandy is survived by her husband George Bordeaux of Gulfport; children George Bordeaux II of Gulfport, Naiem (Judy) Bordeaux of Gulfport, Frank (Jacqueline) Bordeaux of Gulfport, John (Genoveva) Jolley of Oregon, Tawni (Bryan) Nylander of Washington and Mathew (April) Jolley of New Mexico; grandchildren George III, Hannah, Allie, Amelia, Jack Fisher, Frank II, Hudson, Miles, Angelica, Isabelle, Noah, Sheree, Shantel, Shane, Mathew, Cody, Sierra, Emma and Mary Lou; one great-grandchild, Finley Victoria; sister Donna (Bud) Desanno of Oregon; sister-in-law Amelia Bordeaux; brother-in-law Sammy (Cheri Worsham ) Bordeaux; and many other loving family members and friends.
