Roy J. Sims, one day shy of his 82nd birthday, passed away April 19, 2014. He was a current resident of Long Beach and was a native and long-time resident of Pass Christian.
Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Essie Easterling Sims; his brother, Johnny ""Johnny Boy"" Sims; and his sister who cared for him before her death, Neoma Sims Gazzier.
He is survived by his daughter, Cathy O'Gwin (Howard); son, Roy J. Sims; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Milton Sims (Joyce); and sisters, Irma Gazzier (George), Margaret Turner and Hazel Sims.
Mr. Sims as a veteran of the U.S. Navy and during the Korean War he was on the Destroyer ""USS C.R. Ware.""
Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road in Long Beach. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
Interment will be in Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian.
