Patrick ""Pat"" George Pettit, 81, died Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Biloxi VA Hospital.
Mr. Pettit was a native of Emmetsburg, Iowa and was a long-time resident of the MS Gulf Coast. Mr. Pettit retired as a Chief Yeoman after 23 years of service in the U.S. Navy. He served three tours in Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient.
Mr. Pettit was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered for his love and enjoyment of life. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Elizabeth Pettit; and his siblings, William ""Bill"" Pettit, Francis ""Fran"" Pettit, Claude Pettit, Vivienne ""Sister Liam"" Pettit, Cyril Pettit and James Pettit.
Survivors include his children, Maura Pettit, Stella Pettit, Adele Pettit Shankles and Sean Pettit; sister, Phyllis Fisher; 6 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces & nephews; and dear friend and caretaker, Chalio Rumfelt.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 10:30 until the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, MS. Interment with military honors will follow at the National Cemetery in Biloxi.
