Old Sarge has moved on!
Dad was born in Burnt Cabins, PA. He joined the Army at an early age and later joined the Air Force and retired from Keesler AFB on 28 Feb 1971 with 22 years of honorable service. Many will remember Dad from Old Sarge's Auto Parts in Biloxi. He also operated F and M Auto Salvage in North Biloxi. Some of his passions were softball, hunting and golfing. He loved to cook, especially at the hunting camp and at the parts store. If you left the parts store hungry it was your fault, as he was always cooking. Dad loved to be around people, especially family. He thoroughly enjoyed Family gatherings. His puppies were his Best Friends. Dad mentored many young people with a positive impact that is felt and fondly remembered today. Some told that their lives would have gone in a different direction had it not been for Dad. He enjoyed his retired years working as a shuttle driver for several years at Treasure Bay and the Isle of Capri. He was known by the passengers and workers as "Mr. Mack." Dad became a Mason at the Polar Star Lodge #154 many years ago and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Dad is survived by his wife of 62 wonderful years, Betty Showalter, after only 15 days of courtship; his children, Jim (Rae) Mock, Chuck Mock, Wes Mock, Denise Mock, and Amy (Ron) Blanton; his grandchildren, James Everett Mock, Chase Mock, Erica Miller, Alyssa Miller, Grace Miller, and Jeremy Miller; great-grandchildren, Alice Reneau, and Emma Reneau.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rolla Mock, his mother, Dorothy Miller Mock; brothers, Archie Mock, Bob Mock, Harold Mock, and Charles Mock.
The family would like to give special thanks to Merit Health Critical Care Unit and Heartfelt thanks from the family to Nurse Donna and Nurse Joyce.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to one's favorite charity.
